Beyond Tiger: Best Players in Professional Golf
Don’t kid yourself: Tiger Woods will win another major before his time in golf is through. As we saw at last weekend’s Masters tournament, if Woods learns how to put lights out again then you can be sure that you’ll see him winning tournaments in no time. Until that time, there are other golfers to keep your eyes out for before Tiger. While you can debate day and night who is the best player in the game of golf right now, the Official Golf World Rankings say that Martin Kaymer of Germany, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald of England, and Phil Mickelson of the United States all rank ahead of Woods, in order.
The problem in judging who the best golfers in the world are right now is that there is nobody truly being dominate on the tour. With Woods, we were used to seeing someone always either winning week in and week out, or at least being at the top of the leader board. With no repeat winners in the golf majors in the last two plus years, it’s getting harder and harder to decide who exactly is the top golfer on the course. In a way, it’s more balanced that way. In another way, though, it’s a lot less exciting.
